Earlier this week, the Supreme Court ruled that Members of Parliament must vote whether the Government can start the Brexit process. Following on from this announcement, the Prime Minister has said that the Government will set out its Brexit plans in a formal ‘White Paper’ style document.
More than half a dozen Conservative MPs including some ex-ministers had called for a government policy document that sets outs proposals for future acts of the Parliament on Brexit. The Labour party is warning to be prepared for hand to hand combat to ensure the process to leave the EU is fully scrutinised.
The Supreme Court ruled that the Government could only evoke Article 50 with a vote in parliament and Theresa May is looking to invoke the article by the end of March.
