Thank You Letter from Oxfam

Dear John,

Thank you very much for your donation of £300, which I know you made on behalf of everyone at LDPA this Christmas. We are most grateful and will put it to good use in our work with some of the world’s poorest people.

This could be by providing a camel to a family living in an environment where water for livestock is scarce, or by giving a fisherman the tools needed to fish and support a family. These examples sum up Oxfam’s firm conviction that the best solutions to poverty lie in empowering people and giving them the means to support themselves. However, these solutions are more likely to be long-lasting if people also have access to essential services, such as clean water, healthcare and education. We believe that everyone has a right to these services so we work at ensuring that governments stick to their promises to provide them.Perhaps Oxfam is best known for responding quickly to emergencies. These can be caused by natural events like earthquakes or droughts; however they often result from human actions too. In West Africa, for example, we are supporting people displaced by the fighting in Mali, as part of our overall response to the food crisis across the region. So far we have helped just over 100,000 Malians who have fled into camps in Niger, Burkina Faso and Mauritania, with water, sanitation and distributions of basic hygiene items.LDPA’s kind donation will, without doubt, make a big difference in the lives of those we work with, so once again, please accept our warm thanks and if you have any questions about Oxfam, do just get in touch.

Best wishes
